| "Shibori Scapes Retreat"
held in Skaneateles, NY in
June of 2002. In this
three day retreat, participants combined the evocative Shibori with
Nuno Felt response.

story began as Shibori Dye techniques were used to
create shadowy patternings on silk gauze base fabric. |

Viewing the potential of these design forms as a
"Scape" possible responses were then discussed --
texture, double weave, double felt or 3-D relief might be possible
responses.
Emphasis, however, was on creating yardage for
future use. Nuno Felt techniques were then over
layered as appropriate to the evocative shibori. Many
suggestions appeared in spontaneity, akin to the Shibori, for the
sculpted fabrics.

To the sheer delight of all -- some scapes
did realize their destiny by the end of the retreat!
