Felt Hat Gallery

Hats can provide protection, symbolic affiliation and a means of personal identity. The felt hat has been produced for consumers since the fifteenth century and is still in demand throughout the world, be it as a fashion statement or for functional use.

The very same felt bodies or "Hoods" that milliners purchase from industry, can be hand made using ancient feltmaking techniques. The opportunity for specific colors, textures, and surface embellishment is a bonus for the hand felter. Blocking the hood over various forms can produce unique and countless hat shapes for varied and contemporary tastes.
